Welcome to Sherrardsparkwood

Sherrardspark Wood is in the north west of Welwyn Garden City and is an ancient woodland consisting mainly of sessile oak and hornbeam.

Note, has no affiliation with the Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council or the Wood Wardens.

Sherrardspark Wood is popular with dog walkers, joggers, cyclists, and horse riders alike, and is also a valuable site for its wildlife.

The area was designated by English Nature a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) in 1986 as well as a Local Nature Reserve (LNR) in 1998.

Much of the management of the wood is carried out by volunteers of the Sherrardspark Wood Wardens Society.

The normal days for volunteers are Thursdays (10am - noon) and Sundays (10am - noon).

Certain activities are considered damaging and need special dispensation.
